The Board secretary is being recognised globally as a key component of a successful board meeting. The position is one of extreme influence, advising chairman on the content of agendas, guiding them through the meeting and recording, communicating and following up on the board’s decision-making. The Board secretary also plays an important role as the ‘conscience of the organisation’ ensuring that the board’s deliberations and decision-making is in line with the organisation’s values and governance best practices. This role is critical to managing an organisation’s reputational risk.
This workshop offers practical tips and skills for board secretaries and other interested parties from practicing board secretaries to ensure that the board secretary is influencing their board positively. Through group activities its aim is to help board secretaries to develop advanced skills and knowledge in meeting management. This should result in more effective decision-making and better run companies.
