FOREWORD Welcome to the first issue of the Hawkamah Journal. The Hawkamah Journal is focused on providing insights on corporate governance and leadership from the practitioners’ perspective. It is directed to Board Directors, Owners, Executive Directors and governance professionals. It presents the latest thinking on best practices with a particular emphasis on the Middle East and North Africa region. The first issue covers a wide spectrum of governance topics ranging from family governance to SME governance, from Board diversity to Sharia governance. Many of these topics relate directly to the work done by Hawkamah, but our intention is to evolve this Journal into a practitioner’s hub where the latest tools are presented and shared.
